Desarrollo y Asistencia

I am a monitor in activities for mental disabled and physically handicaped children  from 5 to 17 years old.

It gave me a lot of wonderful experiences since 2006, but it is nevertheless a challenge to find a way to communicate with children who often can barely speak, move or even see the world as we can see it.

Our activities with the kids range from going out biking (with adapted bikes of course) , playing with a ball in the park, playing bowling, or visiting exhibitions with some interactive content that could interest them.

The organization:

Desarrollo y Asistencia began its activity in december 1995 as a group of people wanting to help in different areas of the society. The collective grew and became an official NGO in 1998. Today they work closely with the municipality of Madrid and distinct organizations.

The program the offer is basically based on accompaniment, giving consolation and human warmth to:

- terminal patients and first aid psychologial support in hospitals
- accompaniment for old people who suffer from loneliness in their home or asylum.
- mental disabled children
- homeless and marginated people
